COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Pastors, ministers and preachers met to discuss healing issues for South Carolina veterans Wednesday.

The forum at the Dorn V.A. Medical Center focused on issues affecting veterans like post traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse and suicide prevention.

V.A. workers say the talk will help them work better with their patients.

"As a 17 year V.A. employee, I have to know how to show compassion to our veterans, but also, most importantly, to our co-workers, often V.A. employees are veterans themselves.

Wednesday's meeting was part of a week of events celebrating pastoral care at the medical center.
