COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jim DeMint keeps his large lead over Democratic opponent Alvin Greene according to a new poll released Monday.
The latest Rasmussen Reports poll puts DeMint picking up 58 percent of the vote, leaving Greene with 21 percent.
Fifteen percent of those polled say they'll vote for another candidate and six percent say they're still undecided.
DeMint's nearly 40 point lead hasn't budged much since the primary election in June. According to Rasmussen Reports, his support has not dropped below 58 percent.
Only 53 percent of Democrats say they back controversial Greene, who had 21 percent of voter approval in a poll conducted last month.
DeMint and Greene face third party candidate Tom Clements on November 2.
The poll was conducted over the phone asking 500 likely voters their opinion on October 19. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percent with a 95 percent level of confidence.
