COLUMBIA (WACH, AP) -- Republican Nikki Haley's fundraising and spending in the three-month run-up to the November election topped Democrat Vincent Sheheen.
But Sheheen has spent almost as much as Haley to win the state's top office.
An analysis by The Associated Press Wednesday shows Haley raised more than three times as much cash from out-of-state donors as Sheheen did in July, August and September.
More than 31 percent of the cash Haley raised in the third quarter came from out-of-state donors. Sheheen raised 10 percent of his money from out-of state sources.
Haley has nearly $708,000 to spend in the final weeks of the campaign, while Sheheen has about $534,500 cash on hand. Both candidates spent about $1.5 million between July and Oct. 15.
Haley and Sheheen face off along with Morgan Reeves on November 2.
