COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The State Fair isn't just for food and fun. It's also educational.
Each year, professors from USC host Physics at the Fair Day. It gives kids a chance to do more than just ride the rides. They find out how it all works.
Local high schoolers got hands on Tuesday learning about gravity, liquid air and they even had a chance to lie down on a bed of nails.
Organizers say it gives the fair a whole new meaning.
"When they realize this is really physics in action you can see a lot of them light up and say 'oh that's cool,' you know, like the demo. You know people say I want to see that," USC Professor Jeff Wilson says.
Students got a deal on the day. Their admission was free.
