Attorney General Henry McMaster
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina's attorney general will be fined $100 for not filing his campaign finance reports on time.
Cathy Hazelwood is the State Ethics Commission's general counsel and said Monday that Henry McMaster will be fined for missing the deadline. McMaster said he would check into the filing before commenting.
McMaster lost in the Republican primary for governor in June. Candidates who didn't advance to the general election were required to file their reports by Oct. 10.
Brad Henry helped McMaster raise cash for his bid and handled his filings. He said there was confusion about when the filing was due and it was an honest mistake.
South Carolina gives candidates a five-day grace period to file reports late without a $100 fine.
