COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- An attorney for Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Alvin Greene says the misdemeanor obscenity charge his client faces for allegedly showing porn to a college student is "a waste of court time."
Eleazer Carter told The Associated Press on Thursday his client was just trying to flirt with the University of South Carolina student when he showed her online photos in a campus computer lab last November.
Greene was indicted in August on misdemeanor and felony obscenity charges. A $5,000 bond was set on the felony, and a judge Thursday said the same bond would apply to the misdemeanor.
Greene won a surprising victory in the June primary to face Republican Sen. Jim DeMint. A day later, the AP was first to report his November arrest.
