COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Law enforcement officers around South Carolina are helping federal authorities round up expired and unwanted prescription drugs as part of an effort to crack down on pill abuse and theft.

The Drug Enforcement Administration says authorities are manning collection sites throughout the state on Saturday.

The DEA says everyone should turn in unwanted drugs because they could be the source of accidental poisonings and overdoses.

There will be no questions asked of anyone turning in the drugs, which authorities will destroy.
