HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) -- A group is teeing off the second year of an effort to raise money to keep the Heritage golf tournament on Hilton Head Island.

The Island Packet reports the all-volunteer Sponsor Partnership Club will begin discussions Wednesday with a goal of raising $250,000 in local sponsorships. That's more than double what the group raised last year.

The PGA Tour announced last month the Heritage will be played next year on April 21-24, the same week that the Champions Tour event, the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, takes place in nearby Savannah, Ga.

The tournament's schedule spot was in doubt since it lost Verizon as its longtime sponsor. A title sponsor has not yet been lined up for next year's tournament.
