COLUMBIA (WACH)--Boys Scouts of America and Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism officials along with Governor Mark Sanford announced a new partnership Wednesday.

The new partnership will coordinate future service projects at state parks undertaken by Boy Scouts.

A new “Scout Carolina” patch, marking service projects done in conjunction with South Carolina State Parks, was also unveiled.

Governor Mark Sanford a former Eagle Scout himself says he knows how important this move is in conserving our state and nations' natural heritage.

"There is a transcended value to serving a cause or ideas and principles beyond the scope and scale of one's on humanity," say Gov. Sanford.

Officials at PRT are in the process of outlining specific projects Scouts can achieve to earn the new Scout Carolina patch.
