The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported that Williams was the 2006 Miss Spartanburg USA.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- A 25-year-old South Carolina woman has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident in which a man and his dog were killed.
Multiple media outlets reported that Heather Williams of Moore was released from the Spartanburg County jail on $25,000 bail Saturday.
She is accused of hitting 56-year-old Dewayne Keith Tweedell as he walked along U.S. 29 in Greer while carrying his dog Wednesday.
Williams was arrested Friday based on a CrimeStoppers tip.
A relative reached Sunday at a telephone listing for Williams said she wasn't taking calls.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported that Williams was the 2006 Miss Spartanburg USA and in 2008 was one of 16 finalists in People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' vegetarian girl next-door contest.
