The purpose of the meeting was to give the taskforce an overview of the proposal.

The taskforce laid the groundwork for the measure two years ago.

The penny sales tax would raise $1 billion over 25 years to help fund improvements to roads, mass transit and public greenways.

"We are operating in transparency," explains Stephanie Snowden of Richland County Public Information.  "The county will not be doing anything in the dark.  We want people to be informed.  Regardless of how you feel about the plan, we want you to at least be informed."

Voters will decide on the transportation penny sales tax proposal this November.
