IRMO (WACH) -- The November elections are almost 90 days away and many candidates are out campaigning aggressively in the last stretch.  One of them, Representative Joe Wilson.

U.S. Rep. Wilson hosted a Hometown Cookout event Sunday in the town of Irmo.  The Congressman presented several cookouts around South Carolina to emphasize his message of cutting fat from the federal budget.  During the event Sunday, Wilson shook hands, took questions and passed out cards.  He also served his supporters a generous plate of barbecue.

Wilson, who has focused much of his campaign around job creation, says being out with residents is important because he enjoys hearing their concerns and ideas. "We enjoy being with the people of second district, finding out from people their suggestions on how we can create jobs; how we can reduce government spending," Wilson said.

His next series of Hometown Cookouts will be held the weekend of August 20-22.
