COLUMBIA (WACH) -- With the school year quickly approaching, officials with the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy are hoping to make sure every student is prepared.

The agency is holding its first ever Cram Da Van event and they're asking for your help.

They'll be parking a van at 5400 Broad River Road where they're accepting school supply donations.  They van is available through August 27 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and then again at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Don't worry, if you can't make it then, you can still drop off donations at the administration building.

"We've had a lot of kids here over the summer, cadet programs and things of that nature, and we started to discover just how much in need some of these kids are," explains Hubert Harrell, Director of the SCCJA.

The agency's goal is to support students and the next generation of law enforcement officers.

Also at the academy Monday was a crash simulation to educate on both the dangers of unsafe driving and the techniques used by law enforcement to inspect such a wreck.
