Highway Patrol: Teen hit by CPD cruiser

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A teenager has been hospitalized after being hit by a Columbia Police car.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the 13-year-old male pedestrian was struck around 6 p.m. Wednesday near the corner of North Main Street and Monticello.

Authorities rerouted traffic around North Main from Miller to Monticello.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol's Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team is investigating the incident.

There is no word on the extent of the teenager's injuries.
