Columbia (WACH) -- "A vote less person is a hopeless person," said voter Quadrey Reeves.
The need to replenish that lost hope had hundreds of District Two voters casting their ballot for a City Council Representative Tuesday. Quadrey Reeves says despite voter fatigue, he knows the importance of every vote.
"I am a proud supporter--since the six times District Two has come out to vote--of Brian Dequincey Newman," said Reeves.
Voter Frederick Peters knows it's been a tough road finding a new voice for the District Two community.
"The wait is worth it if we get the right man in the job," said Peters. "And again, I'm endorsing Puff Howard."
Peters is a longtime voter who says he never misses an opportunity to exercise his civic duty.
"I've been voting since I was 18 and I don't think I've missed an election yet," said Peters. "It's the only time a simple man or the average person can get any type of say in local government."
"If you don't exercise your right, execute and vote your conviction, you shouldn't have nothing to say at all," said Reeves.
The voices of the voters have been heard. After more than three months of not having city council representation, Tuesday's vote officially ushers in new leadership to the area.
