COLUMBIA (WACH) -- For many talented female athletes the dream of playing at an elite level ends after college.
But one local organization hopes to extend the dream by bringing a competitive soccer team to Columbia.
Ewell Gordon with Athletic Organization Optimal Physical Performance says he is trying to create an amateur soccer team to compete in the 2011 Season in the W-league.
The W-league is currently the second highest level of women's soccer in the United States and Gordon says bringing a team to the Capitol City will do more than just extend female athletes futures - He says it will put Columbia on the soccer map.
"We're talking about across the country and Canada, so were not talking about a league that's just popped up or something, it's been around for 30-years," said Gordon.
Right now the team is looking for a coach and several more players.
If you are interested in joining the team you can contact Gordon at 803-661-9802 or 803-331-7613.
