COLUMBIA (AP) -- South Carolina's runoff races head to voters Tuesday with plenty of interest in a governor's race and a U.S. House contest that could change the face of the state's Republican Party.
State Rep. Nikki Haley could become the first woman GOP nominee for governor and state Rep. Tim Scott is in a race that could make him the state's first black GOP congressman in more than a century.
Meanwhile, the tough campaigning that left a mark on the governor's race crept into the race for attorney general as Leighton Lord notes Alan Wilson initially failed the state bar exam and Wilson says Lord lacks prosecution experience.
Republicans also will decide U.S. House primaries including U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis' bid for a seventh term in a contest with prosecutor Trey Gowdy.
