V. Scott Koerwer replaces Mick Zais, who is running for State Education Superintendent.
NEWBERRY (AP) -- Newberry College in South Carolina has named V. Scott Koerwer its new president.
The Lutheran church-affiliated school said in a news release Friday that Koerwer will start July 1.
The 43-year-old former deputy dean and clinical professor of management at the University of South Carolina's business school replaces Mick Zais, who is running for the Republican nomination to be South Carolina's education superintendent.
Koerwer earned his master's degree from Lehigh University and his doctorate in education from University of Pennsylvania. He also graduated from the advanced executive program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
He previously served as an executive at the Wharton School and the University of Maryland
