COLUMBIA -- Dozens came out to Piney Grove Cemetery on Memorial Day to remember fallen soldiers.

For the 10th year in a row, the group placed flags next to the tombstones of men and women who served in the military.

A wreath laying presentation at the tomb of an unknown soldier was also part of the ceremony.

Organizers say the day was a tribute to those who sacrificed to protect and preserve the country's freedoms.

"I'm here in honor of the veterans who have given sacrifices," says Audrey Smith of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 4262.  "They left their homes, left their families behind to have the freedoms we enjoy in this country."

More than 20 flags were placed on veterans' graves.
