COLUMBIA (AP) -- The defense and security company BAE Systems is getting a $95 million contract from the Army, and the work will be done primarily in South Carolina.

BAE Systems vice president Richard Anderson said in a statement issued Tuesday that the work being done in North Charleston is the installation and maintenance of automated security systems at the Army's bases and installations.

The firm says the automated security systems use software and hardware to verify information on individuals and match that information to data on registered vehicles.

The company will install the systems at multiple bases and installations in the United States.

BAE Systems is a global defense, security and aerospace company with about 107,000 employees around the world.
