COLUMBIA (AP) -- South Carolina transportation officials say they have found cracks in two more steel girders on Interstate 77 bridges.

The state Department of Transportation said Wednesday that inspectors have found cracks on north- and southbound beams on the I-77 bridges over state Highway 901 in York County.

Last week, officials said inspectors had found cracks on a pair of I-77 bridges in Chester County. The department launched an inspection of about 70 bridges with similar steel girders, and the new cracks were discovered during that probe.

Inspectors say the bridges are safe and will remain open while they are repaired.
