HUNTING ISLAND, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina is trading on the old proverb that if you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.

A class called Cast Netting 101 is being offered on Wednesday at Hunting Island State Park on the southern coast.

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism says the class is for people who would like to learn to cast for shrimp and perhaps catch their supper.

But the department says the class is also for people who simply want a glimpse at the creatures lurking in coastal marshes or if they just want to get wet and muddy.

Folks can bring cast nets and a limited number are provided.
