COLUMBIA -- Safe Kids South Carolina, led by The Children's Trust of South Carolina, unveiled their Safe Kids South Carolina Safety and Prevention Calendar Thursday.
This is the twelfth year for the calendar, which uses student-drawn safety tips to promote childhood injury prevention.
Former South Carolina Superintendent of Education Inez Tenebaum was a guest speaker at the event, which makes sense. This year, the calendar is going straight to the students.
"This calendar has gone to every elementary and private school across the state, so hopefully we can add more sponsorship next year and add even more educational elements," says Heidi Vaughn, Safe Kids State Director.
Thirteen Elementary school children were selected from hundreds of entries statewide for the calendar.
Those winners include:
- Julia Koerwer of Bethel-Hanberry Elementary
- Ashlyn McEwen of Batesburg-Leesville Elementary
- Jarrett Lindsey of Mountain View Elementary
- Zsymere Epps of Gallman Elementary
- Clair Johnson of Byrd Elementary
- Max Sasnett of Heathwood Hall Episcopal School
- Zoe Baugh of Spartanburg Christian Academy
- Kimberly Villegas of Gallman Elementary
- Jaquan Anderson of Whittaker Elementary
- Cathleen Armstrong of Bethel-Hanberry Elementary
- Francesca Strathern of St. Joseph Catholic School
- Jayla Thompson of Taylors Elementary
