A new do for a good cause

COLUMBIA -- People in the Midlands are fighting cancer one snip at a time.

The annual Cuts for Cancer event raised nearly $3,000 for Children's Chance.

Last month, Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology students earned the money by giving trims and cuts for just $5.

Kenneth Shuler says even though they didn't meet their $10,000 goal, he's still happy with the results.

"What we are trying to do is to show our students is that it's just as important to give as it is to receive," Shuler says.

Children's Chance says the money will stay right here in the Midlands and will help families pay for non-medical expenses like food, gas and other basic necessities.
