COLUMBIA -- A partnership between a county and state department is underway to help protect residents against criminals.
Wednesday, the Richland County Sheriff's Department announcing a collaboration with the Department of Probation and Pardon Services.
The idea behind the joint effort is to streamline law enforcement resources and help reduce repeat offenders committing crimes.
"It can't not do anything but help us, so we look forward to not only Richland County, but have the potential in going to some of the other large counties as we look at this project and see how things go," says Sam Glover of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services.
The pilot project, which began on April 1, has already resulted in four arrests.
