COLUMBIA -- The polls closed at 7 p.m. in the city of Columbia on Tuesday.

Voters cast their ballots in four municipal races; mayoral, District I, District IV and At-Large council elections.

We're updating the results of those races as the information comes in.

This election will bring a new mayor to the Capital City for the first time in 20 years.

We checked in at polling places Tuesday afternoon and the record turnout that some expected, didn't appear to be showing up.

District IV election officials report that turnout was average, but precincts in District II are saying turnout was lower than usual.

That may have something to do with a federal court ruling that put a stop to that district's city council election.

As a result, that may play a role in the results of the mayoral race.

We'll have more on voter turnout as we receive it.

Keep checking back and rely on our Politics Page for the latest election news and results.
