Maj. Gen. James M. Milano will head the U.S. Army Basic Combat Training Center of Excellence
FORT JACKSON (AP) -- Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey has chosen the two-star general in charge of the U.S. Army Armor School at Fort Knox, Ky., as the next commander of the service's largest training installation.
Army officials said on Tuesday that Maj. Gen. James M. Milano will head the U.S. Army Basic Combat Training Center of Excellence at Fort Jackson.
Milano, born in Dearborn, Mich., is both commandant at Fort Knox and head of the armor center.
The general has served as director of training Iraqi forces in Baghdad, as assistant division commander with the 4th Infantry Division in Fort Carson, Colo., and deputy chief of staff for the U.S. Army Central Command and coalition forces in Kuwait.
The announcement did not say when Milano will assume the new post.
