The polls open at 7 a.m. on Tuesday and close at 7 p.m.
COLUMBIA -- The Municipal Election Commission of the City of Columbia will hold it's general election for the City of Columbia on Tuesday, April 6, 2010.
And as you prepare to head to the polls, officials says they're busy behind the scenes making sure everything is ready.
Monday afternoon at the Richland County Election Commission, officials were assisting with voter registration and attending to last minute details.
According to the commission, turn out will be big so they want to make sure everyone knows exactly where they should go to cast their vote.
"They can look on their voter registration card for which precinct they are registered in," says Lillian McBride, Voter Registration Director. "If they are not sure, they can call our office, the voter registration office, to see where they are registered to vote at."

The following offices will be included in this election:
- Mayor for term ending 2014.
- Councilmember from District 1 for term ending in 2014.
- Councilmember for District 4 for term ending in 2014.
- Councilmember for at-large seat for term ending in 2014.

People wishing to vote in the upcoming election must have been registered with the County Board of Voter Registration by Friday, March 5, 2010.
This is a nonpartisan election and no party affiliation shall be placed on the ballot.
The polls open at 7:00 a.m. on election day and close at 7:00 p.m.
