GREENWOOD (AP) -- A South Carolina man who strangled his former girlfriend and stuffed her body under an abandoned house has been sentenced to 23 years in prison.
The Index-Journal of Greenwood reports 34-year-old Derrick Anderson pleaded guilty Monday to voluntary manslaughter. He was initially charged with murder.
Prosecutors say the body of 40-year-old Susan Edens was found in 2007 after neighbor complained of a bad odor.
Authorities say Edens had been missing for four days,
Anderson will have to serve 19 1/2 years before he could be paroled.
