On Thursday, the Obama Administration announced a more than $1.2 billion settlement for black farmers.

The farmers have been traveling across the nation, rallying for the money.  The group made a stop here in Columbia last week.

The Black Farmers Association requested the money as compensation for what they call "years of discrimination against black farmers."

The Association has been fighting for better federal loans since the 1970's.
