COLUMBIA (AP) -- Storms that moved across South Carolina brought heavy rains, some flooding and high winds but no reports of serious damage.

About 400 customers were without electric service late Monday morning. South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. reported more than 300 customers were without service, mostly in the Orangeburg area. The Columbia utility says more than 9,000 customers had lost service in the central part of the state late Sunday.

Duke Energy reported about 100 customers without service late Monday morning, most in Greenville County.

Tornado watches and flood watches and warnings were posted late Sunday and early Monday. But no serious damage had been reported and the threat of tornadoes had essentially ended by sunrise.

Officials in Rock Hill reported rescuing people from vehicles stranded in flash flooding.
