The South Carolina Conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will announce plans for the 10th Annual King Day at the Dome program on Thursday. A news conference is scheduled for 11:00 AM at the SC NAACP office at 6111 North Main Street.
SC NAACP President Lonnie Randolph will announce key speakers scheduled to speak at the Statehouse rally which the organization stages each year on the official holiday celebrating the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year's holiday will be on Monday, January 18. Dr. King's actual birthday is January 15.
