COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Four more people have pleaded guilty to playing roles in a scheme authorities say defrauded South Carolina's social services agency of $5.2 million.
U.S. Attorney Walt Wilkins said Tuesday that Jocelyn Renee Egleton, Willie Howard Ross, Wendell Smith and Harriet Young Woodard all pleaded guilty to theft of government property.
Wilkins says four other people who previously pleaded guilty have also been sentenced.
So far, dozens have been charged with helping former Department of Social Services finance director Paul Moore embezzle the money over 4 1/2 years. Authorities say he wrote checks and got others to cash them. They kept some of the money and gave the rest to Moore.
Moore pleaded guilty in October. He is awaiting sentencing.
