COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- With so many veterans back from a successful debut season, South Carolina coach Darrin Horn has the luxury of bringing along his first full-blown Gamecock class along slowly. He doesn't plan to do that, however.
Horn said he'll treat his four newcomers as if they were needed immediately, instead of their likely roles sitting behind experienced performers like Devan Downey, Dominique Archie, Mike Holmes and Sam Muldrow.
Horn says he wants his first-year players Lakeem Jackson, Ramon Galloway, Johndre Jefferson and Stephen Spinella as prepared as possible when the season starts.
Horn and the Gamecocks open practice October 16. Their first game is Nov. 13 against Alabama A&M.
