(AP) -- A South Carolina man has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of a woman whose body was found in a Charleston County pond last month.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that 21-year-old Jessie James Murphy of Johns Island was arrested Thursday in the death of 49-year-old Kathryn Keener of Charleston.
Charleston County Sheriff Al Cannon says deputies got a tip that Murphy was seen with Keener on Aug. 1, the day she was shot in the head.
Murphy was being held in the Charleston County jail on a murder charge. It was unclear Friday if he had an attorney.
Investigators are trying to determine what led to the shooting. Cannon says investigators also are trying to determine if anyone helped Murphy after Keener was killed.
Her body was found Aug. 6.
