COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Technical and two-year colleges in South Carolina are seeing a boost in enrollment as people look for the skills needed for jobs.
Multiple media outlets reported Tuesday that classes are full and enrollment is at a record-setting pace at several technical and two-year schools.
State Technical College System spokeswoman Kelly Steinhilper says enrollment is expected to be up by 10 percent or more at technical colleges statewide.
More than 5,000 students are enrolled in Florence-Darlington Technical College, a record for the school's 45-year history. Greenville Tech enrollment is up 9 percent from last year and the University of South Carolina Union says it's broken its enrollment record with 494 students this fall.
