People in the Midlands celebrated the life of Michael Jackson on Tuesday. Some watched the service in the privacy of their homes, others watched online at work.
One hair studio offered the public the chance to come in to offer condolences to the Jackson family by signing a memory book. And the the studio offered the public a place to come and watch the memorial service.
"I'm saddened for us as a world because we've truly lost a treasure in Michael Jackson," Terrainio Cunningham said.
A treasured icon, the world will never forget. On Tuesday Cunningham joined millions of people globally mourning a fallen star. While losing Jackson hurts, Cunningham also celebrates the King of Pop's home going.
"A part of me is happy for his rest, but a part of me is not happy because we won't see new material," said Cunningham.
He says he'll forever have a unique connection with the Jackson family.
"My name is Terrainio. Its spelled phonetically. But its derived from Tito Jackson's real name--Toriano," said Cunningham.
Terrainio's mother, Edith Cunningham, also calls it an emotional farewell.
"It's a sad day," said Edith Cunningham. "It's like attending--from a distance--the funeral of a relative."
Tomiko Lloyd remembers watching Michael on television and at a concert when she was young.
"He was a wonderful entertainer and we're really sad that he had to leave us so soon," said Lloyd.
"His gift of music and his gift of love, and the things he's done to help society and the world those are the things that I would like us to focus on," said Terrainio Cunningham.
It was a true celebration of an American icon, and a final farewell to the King of Pop.
