Richland County Sherrif Leon Lott announced Friday, that the Sheriff's Department now "tweets." As of June 1st, 2009, the Richland County Sheriff's Department has had the capabilities of "Twittering," and have been testing the benefits of utilizing the free form of communication with citizens. Lott says the department is one of the frist law enforcement agencies in South Carolina to create a Twitter account. Citizens can receive real time information about what is occurring in Richland County. Lott encourages all citizens to join the department on Twitter.com/RCSD to stay informed about what is happening with the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
