Columbia, S.C. - South Carolina relied on their power game to earn their third straight conference series win Friday night at Carolina Stadium. The Gamecocks blasted two home runs and took out the Georgia Bulldogs 7-4 Friday night at Carolina Stadium.
First baseman Nick Ebert homered for the third time in two games, knocking out his 21st round-tripper of the season in the bottom of the first inning. Catcher Justin Dalles hit a three-run shot two innings later giving USC a 6-1 lead.
The offense was more than enough for Gamecock pitcher Nolan Belcher. The freshman struck out a career-best 11 batters in 6 1/3 innings of work.
The Gamecocks improve to 36-19 overall and 16-13 in the SEC. USC leapfrogged Georgia in the standings with the win, clinching second place in the SEC East. Georgia drops to 35-19 and 15-14 in the SEC. South Carolina goes for the sweep Saturday afternoon at Carolina Stadium at 1 pm. That game will be the regular season finale for both teams.
