COLUMBIA, SC -- (WACH) Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is seeking the community's assistance in locating Jose Xia Mox, 36, for assault and battery with intent to kill. On April 11, 2009 at approximately 7:30 AM deputies arrived at 1535 Brookhurst Drive and found a male victim stabbed in the upper body. Witnesses overheard the suspect and victim having a verbal altercation prior to the victim being stabbed. The sheriff reports that after stabbing the victim, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle in an unknown direction.
Witnesses have identified Mox as the suspect and investigators have received information that people may be assisting Mox in hiding from capture. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that anyone who has information on Mox's whereabouts needs to come forward and if investigators determine that anyone has afforded Mox assistance in his flight from justice they will be prosecuted as well.
Sheriff Leon Lott states the victim was transported to Palmetto Health with life threatening injuries; however is said to be making a gradual recovery. Sheriff Leon Lott adds that anyone that has information about this crime or know the whereabouts of Mox is asked to call, email or text your anonymous tip to CRIME STOPPERS.
