COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina Republican lawmaker says he's running for lieutenant governor in 2010.
Rep. Ted Pitts of Lexington says he will make an official announcement on Wednesday. Pitts is a commercial real estate broker and South Carolina Army National Guard member.
Pitts is serving his fourth term in the House. The 37-year-old legislator sits on the House Education and Public Works Committee, where he leads a transportation subcommittee.
He and his wife, Christina, have one child.
Pitts joins lawyer Bill Connor of Orangeburg in the race to replace Republican Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, who has said he'll probably run for governor. Connor is an Army Reserve lieutenant colonel and Afghanistan veteran.
