COLUMBIA, SC -- Samuel R. Smith, a substitute teacher at Sandlapper Elementary School, was arrested by Richland County Deputies on a charge of criminal solicitation of a minor.
The arrest was made after another teacher at the school found a computer with pornography and inappropriate conversations, then reported it to school officials.
Investigators determined that Smith was a substitute teacher in the classroom where the computer was found, and also had numerous improper conversations with a fifteen year old boy about sex and alcohol.
Smith reportedly used both Craig'sList and Yahoo to run personal ads which solicited relationships.
Smith was arrested at his home in Summit Townes in Northeast Columbia, and has been booked at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
