COLUMBIA, SC (AP) -- South Carolina legislators may have found another way to get under Governor Mark Sanford's skin.

Lawmakers are considering a resolution allowing them to stick around to deal with vetoes, budget shortfalls and an ongoing stimulus fight with Sanford. They'll adjourn two weeks early on May 21st and the resolution allows them to come back later.

Senate President Pro Tem Glenn McConnell said Friday the proposal also keeps the Republican governor from naming people to boards and commissions without Senate review. McConnell says there are concerns Sanford will sweep clean the state's ports, electric utility and environmental oversight boards.

Sanford spokesman Joel Sawyer says the governor has no plans to circumvent the normal screening and review process.
