(AP) -- COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina Public Safety director Mark Keel says seven officers have been suspended for working while their driver's licenses were suspended.
The State reported the agency investigated after the newspaper filed a Freedom of Information Act request for the driving records for Senior Trooper John McGaha and reported his license had been suspended.
McGaha had been stopped March 28 for driving 131 mph on Interstate 20 and was suspended for three days.
The newspaper said three other state troopers, two State Transport Police officers and a Bureau of Protective Services officer were suspended in the agency's follow-up investigation.
The officers' names were not released.
Keel says he worries that cases the officers made while their licenses were suspended could be jeopardized.
