Oconee Magistrate Arrested

OCONEE -- (WACH)  Oconee County Magistrate, Rebecca Gerrard  turned herself in today  on arrest warrants filed by South Carolina Law Enforcement (SLED). 

Gerrard,60, is charged with Misconduct in Office, Petit Larceny, and Breaking into a Motor Vehicle.   The vehicle belonged to a municipal judge and the incident occured around March 4, 2009. The interior of the vehicle was damaged by a liquid substance that investigators belive Gerrard poured on the seats and floor of the vehicle.

Earlier allegations from November, 2008, state Gerrard took a set of keys from the same victim with the intent of depriving the victim of the keys.  Both incidents happened  in Columbia at different on Gervais Street locations. 

The victim has not been identified.
