COLUMBIA, SC -- A teen is dead after Columbia police say he tried to rob people gathered at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting on College Street.

Columbia spokesman Brick Lewis says 18-year-old Cayson Helms was shot during the attempted robbery.  Richland County Coroner Gary Watts say Helms later died from his injuries.

The person who shot Helms is not facing charges right now, but Columbia police are continuing the investigation.
