Columbia, S.C. - South Carolina starting pitcher Jay Brown put in more than six scoreless innings and struck out five in USC's 10-0 win over Furman Wednesday night at Carolina Stadium. Brown combined with relievers Adam Westmoreland and Michael Roth on a six-hit shutout.
The Gamecocks swung big bats against the Paladins. South Carolina out-hit Furman 15-6, including seven doubles from seven different players.
The win improves South Carolina to 19-8 for the year while the loss drops Furman 10-13 on the season. South Carolina continues its homestand with a weekend series against SEC-leading Arkansas. First pitch for Friday's opener is set for 7 p.m.
