FLORENCE, SC (AP) -- A 72-year-old Florence woman has been sentenced to more than six years in prison for embezzling more than $1 million from the Florence credit union where she worked.
U.S. Attorney Walt Wilkins said Wednesday that Christine McLamb also must pay more than $1 million in restitution.
McLamb pleaded guilty to embezzlement and aggravated identity theft charges in September.
The government says McLamb took more than $1 million dollars from the Health Facilities Federal Credit Union between 1998 and 2006 while working as its lending director.
Prosecutors say she created about 90 loans in customers' names then kept the money for herself.
Court documents show McLamb has appealed her sentence. Her attorney declined comment Wednesday.
