GREENVILLE, SC (AP) -- Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against a South Carolina couple charged with murder in the death of a woman whose severed hands and feet were found in trash bags.

A spokeswoman for the 13th Circuit Solicitor's Office confirmed Friday that prosecutors would pursue the death sentence for Clarence and Carmen Jenkins. Spokeswoman Marcia Barker says the couple were in court Friday as lawyers argued technicalities in the case.

Authorities say the pair is responsible for the death of 34-year-old Mekole Harris, whose body has not been found.

Police say blood spatter found in the Jenkins' home matched the woman's DNA.

Investigators think the couple was involved in a "three-way love relationship" with a woman they hoped to frighten into paying them $10,000.
