DILLON, SC (AP) -- South Carolina wants highway travelers coming through the state to know it was once home to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.
An interchange on Interstate 95 was named Saturday for the native of rural Dillon, the first town travelers heading south find after they cross the North Carolina state line.
State lawmakers have passed a concurrent resolution honoring Bernanke.
Bernanke took over the Federal Reserve in 2006, succeeding longtime chairman Alan Greenspan.
He previously served as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers and has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve since 2002.
